Book Presentation:
This special issue of the Journal of British Cinema and Television, edited by John Hill and Julian Petley, takes a detailed and critical look at crucial developments in its field in the first decade of the new millennium. Contributors include Sarah Street, Duncan Petrie, Claire Monk, John Hill, Jonathan Powell and James Chapman. There is a particular focus on how media policy developed during this period, and other topics include post-millennial horror, high-end television drama, low-budget production, media education and training, and the work of directors such as Pawel Pawlikowski, Penny Woolcock and Gideon Koppel.

About the authors:
John Hill is Professor and Head of Research at Royal Holloway, University of London.
Julian Petley is Professor of Screen Media and Journalism in the School of Arts at Brunel University, Chair of the Campaign for Press and Broadcasting Freedom, a member of the board of Index on Censorship, and co-principal editor of the Journal of British Cinema and Television. His most recent publications are Freedom of the Word (2007), Freedom of the Moving Image (co-written with Philip French, 2008) and Censorship: a Beginner's Guide (2009).
