About the Author:
Rae Shaw is an award-winning writer-director-producer who explores themes of diversity, connection, sexuality, and disparity. Her work stretches the boundaries of the short form. As a teacher, she helps her students do the same. Shaw’s works have received accolades from Reel Sisters of the Diaspora Film Festival, Los Angeles Women’s International Film Festival, and Wilmington Independent Film Festival. Her writing has been recognized by the Academy Nicholl Fellowship, Austin Film Festival, Cynosure Screenwriting Awards, and more.Shaw began her career working for industry veterans at the talent management company The Firm. She continues to create projects that uplift women and diverse perspectives through her company Wicked Lovely Films & Media. Shaw has received the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship, Francis E. Williams Artist Fellowship, Woodrow Wilson National Foundation Fellowship, Delaware Division of the Arts Emerging Artist Fellowship, Marvin Miller and Guy Hanks Screenwriting Fellowship, and Mass Cultural Council Artist Fellowship. She received her BA from the University of Chicago and her MFA from the University of Miami. Shaw splits her time between Los Angeles and Boston, where she teaches at Emerson College.
