About the Author:
RAY CARNEY is Professor of Film and American Studies at Boston University. His books include The Films of John Cassavetes: Pragmatism, Modernism, and the Movies (1994) and Speaking the Language of Desire: The Films of Carl Dreyer (1989). He is the General Editor of The Cambridge Films Classics and an advisor to numerous national and international film festivals.
