Book Presentation:
Practical up-to-date advice for the aspiring director, producer, or screenwriter

This third edition prepares independent or guerrilla filmmakers for the legal, financial, and organizational questions that can doom a project if unanswered.

Current updates include information on digital marketing and distribution strategies through YouTube or webisodes, online streaming, crowdfunding, and the importance of diversity, inclusion, and compensation equity.

This guide demystifies issues such as developing a concept, founding a film company, obtaining financing, securing locations, casting, shooting, granting screen credits, distributing, exhibiting, and marketing a film.

Packed with appendices to provide helpful samples and WGA definitions, this guide is essential for all indie filmmakers

About the Author:
Jon M. Garon is director of the Intellectual Property, Cybersecurity, and Technology Law Program at Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law, where he is a tenured full professor teaching Constitutional Law, Contracts, Privacy Law, Entertainment Law, and Intellectual Property Licensing, and a wide range of additional courses. He is a nationally recognized authority on entertainment law, copyright, information privacy, technology regulation, and free speech. He has published over 50 books, book chapters, and academic articles, and he has presented at more than 300 programs.

Press Reviews:
"This is the best one volume legal and business guide for independent film-making that I've come across (not that you shouldn't read others.) Garon covers all of the bases from conception of a project and formation of the venture through distribution of the finished film. Add a decent book of form contracts (and specific legal advice when you need it) and you are ready to start production." —Patrick, Goodreads
