Lorie Kanath's text recalls Sam's impulse and energy, which I experienced as a child, and which made him a great photographer. He left a comet's trail of timeless images that caught working people and celebrities simmering in their own juices. I also recall Coney Island ten years before the Seven Year Itch, where young women shrieked as a jet of air blew their skirts above their heads and everyone laughed and laughed.
