Description de l'ouvrage :
Cinematic Transatlantic Perspectives not only explores the influences of cinema on historic, artistic, and cultural expressions, but also inquires into how cinema questions the past, the present, and the future; how it shapes, reflects, and problematizes identities, nationalities, allegiances, and conventions, as well as how filmic spectatorship impacts national identity, political affiliation, and communal belonging. Gathering contributions from European and American scholars and a filmmaker whose work has spanned both continents, this book also shows how cinema can interact with literature, philosophy, psychoanalysis, and the other fine and performing arts.
