Description de l'ouvrage :
With each changing angle, a kaleidoscope produces a design of different symmetry and color combination. Similarly, Indian cinema presents various perspectives reflecting reality and imagination, aspirations and frustrations, success and failure of India as a nation and a culture. Spanning all* more than a century, it has witnessed the making, unmaking and remaking of idea of India as a nation. At the same time it has also attempted to capture the eternal spirit of Indian cultural ethos in a short span of movie time. It has not only voiced the problems and protests of common Indian men and women but has also sung their lyrics and saga along with those of great leaders. By creating a number of larger than life characters. Indian cinema has rivaled history and literature in inspiring ordinary people to extraordinary triumphs. What Indian cinema has done with India, the present book strives to do with Indian cinema. Though narrow in range, this book is an endeavor to provide a kaleidoscopic view of Indian cinema ranging from cacophony of voices to the euphony of verses.
